Destinations

Four wonders, one district.

From thundering falls to gravity-defying rock, every corner of Okere rewards the curious traveller.

AKAA WATERFALL

Twenty shaded minutes under silk cotton trees, kingfishers crossing the stream, until the trail opens onto a curtain of white water and a cool plunge pool you will rarely share.

ASENEMA WATERFALL

The crown jewel of Okere. A short marked trail off the Adukrom road drops you at a single plunge into a clear pool, ringed by bamboo and tall forest canopy.

UMBRELLA ROCK

A colossal stone canopy balanced on a slender pillar. A short guided ladder climb puts you on its crown, with 270 degrees of highland rolling away toward the Volta hills.

APREDE WATERFALL

The one you earn. Forty five minutes through cocoa farms and old growth forest, stream crossings included, ending at a deep cold pool that still feels like a discovery.

Before you come

Questions we hear most often

How much does it cost to visit?

Entry is GH20 for Ghanaian adults and GH30 for international visitors, with children 5 to 15 at half price and under-5 years is free. That rate covers Asenema, Akaa, Umbrella Rock and Aprede, and a guide is included at every site.

What are the opening hours?

The sites are open daily from 8:30 to 17:30. Arriving before mid-afternoon gives you comfortable time on the trails and the best light at the falls.

How do I get there from Accra?

It is about an hour from Accra. Take the Aburi road towards Mamfe, then continue to Adukrom. Trotros run from Madina station, and we offer a round-trip Accra pickup for GH\u20b5350 if you would rather not drive.

Do I need to book in advance?

No, you can pay at the gate. Booking ahead secures your guide and date, and lets you pay a deposit or in full online, which is worth doing for weekends and groups.

Is a guide included?

Yes. A certified local guide is included at Asenema, Akaa and Umbrella Rock. Aprede is a longer trek, so its guide is charged per group rather than per person.

How difficult are the trails?

They vary. Asenema is a short marked trail a few minutes off the Adukrom road. Akaa is about twenty shaded minutes on foot. Aprede is the demanding one, roughly forty-five minutes through cocoa farms and forest with stream crossings.

Can I swim at the falls?

Yes, there are plunge pools at the waterfalls. Bring a change of clothes and footwear you do not mind getting wet, and follow your guide on where it is safe to enter.

Where can we stay overnight?

The district has options from luxury eco-resorts to guest houses, all listed with room types, amenities and direct contacts on our Accommodation page.

Still unsure? Ask us directly or message us on WhatsApp. A real person replies within 24 hours.

Asenema Waterfall took my breath away — and our guide turned the whole hike into a masterclass on the forest. Best day of our Ghana trip.

We brought 120 students and the team handled everything — buses, meals, safety briefings. The kids still talk about Umbrella Rock.

The sunrise camping package is pure magic. Bonfire, drumming, then dawn breaking over the hills — I've never seen anything like it.
